2024 Convocation Ceremony

I. COLLECTION AND USE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

"Personal Information" refers to any data that can identify an individual. This includes, but is not limited to, names, email addresses, phone numbers, academic records, and employment information. Lead City University collects personal information through a variety of channels to support our educational, administrative, and research activities.

LCU collects personal information in three primary ways:

  • Information provided directly to us: This includes details provided during the application process, admissions, registration, or employment at LCU.
  • Information received from third parties: LCU collects data from external sources, such as transcripts from other academic institutions, letters of recommendation, or employment references.
  • Information automatically collected: Data such as IP addresses and browsing patterns are collected when individuals interact with the LCU website or applications.

1. Information You Provide to Us or that We Collect from Third Parties

Personal information provided directly or collected from third parties is used for:

  • Administering university programs and operations,
  • Managing admissions, employment, and academic records,
  • Providing requested services (e.g., event registration, course enrollment),
  • Meeting regulatory, legal, and reporting obligations,
  • Conducting internal research to improve our services and programs,
  • Communicating with students, staff, alumni, and donors.

LCU may store this data on servers located within Nigeria or internationally, subject to applicable data protection laws. The University may also share data with trusted vendors and partners, provided they meet contractual obligations to ensure data protection.

a. Student Information

Lead City University collects a wide range of personal information from students, including:

  • Name, contact details, student ID, and date of birth,
  • Academic performance, course registration, and exam results,
  • Interactions with University services (e.g., library, hostel, health center),
  • Financial aid details and payment records,
  • Health and medical records (for accommodation or administering medical services).

This information is used for managing academic records, student welfare, billing, financial aid, and other necessary student services. It may also be shared with external parties or accrediting bodies, as required by law or regulation.

b. Prospective Student Information

Prospective students submitting applications to LCU provide personal information such as:

  • Name, contact information, educational records, and references,
  • Standardized test scores and essays,
  • Financial details for scholarship and aid consideration.

This data is used to process admissions, determine eligibility for scholarships or financial aid. The information may also be shared with other third-parties, external evaluators or scholarship bodies.

c. Employee Information

LCU collects and processes personal information from employees, including:

  • Contact details, employment history, and references,
  • Payroll information, bank account details, pension and tax details,
  • Performance evaluations and disciplinary records.

This information is essential for personnel management, salary payments, employee benefits, and regulatory compliance. Such information will be securely stored and processed in accordance with LCU’s policies.

d. Alumni and Donor Information

Personal information of alumni and donors, including contact details and financial contributions, is collected and used to maintain relationships, track donations, and ensure compliance with financial regulations. LCU values its alumni network and may use their information for fundraising campaigns, promotional materials, and alumni events.

e. Research Participants

Lead City University conducts research that may require the collection of personal information from research participants. This could include name, contact information, medical records, and survey responses. All research activities adhere to ethical standards, including obtaining informed consent and ensuring data minimization. Research data is stored securely and may be retained for future studies or archived for public interest, scientific or historical research.

 

II. SHARING OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

Lead City University shares personal information with other universities, service providers, vendors, and government agencies for legitimate purposes such as providing services, ensuring regulatory compliance, or conducting audits.   • Access: You may request a copy of your personal information held by LCU.
  • Correction: You may request the correction of any inaccuracies in your data.
  • Erasure: You may request the deletion of your data under certain circumstances.
  • Restriction: You may request that LCU restrict the processing of your data.
  • Objection: You have the right to object to the processing of your data.
  • Transfer: You have the right to request that we transfer or share your data with a third-party.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact the University's Data Protection Officer (DPO) at dpo.lcu.edu.ng. LCU will require verification of identity before processing such requests.

Scope of the Journal

The International Journal of Contemporary Research in Humanities (INJOCORH) welcomes original research articles, critical reviews, and theoretical papers from diverse disciplines within the humanities and other related themes.

Call for Papers

The journal is calling for papers to be published in the next issue of the journal. Manuscriptsshould be original and not previously published or currently under review elsewhere.Submissions should be written in English and follow the International Journal ofContemporary Research in Humanities formatting guidelines below.

Structure of the Manuscript

  • Title page: Title of the paper, name of author(s), affiliation(s), email address, phone number, ORCID ID (if known), abstract (of around 200 words), and five (5) keywords maximum.
  • Introduction: Background to the study, Research Statement, Objective(s). outline of the paper.
  • Literature Review: All reviews (conceptual, theoretical, empirical, and methodological) are to be presented in paragraphs and not subtitled.
  • Methods: this includes a brief discussion on the research approaches, method of data collection, and analysis of data presented.
  • Results: presentation and interpretation of results from the discussions on the findings presented.
  • Conclusion: this may include possible recommendations or suggestions for further studies or policy making.

Formatting Guidelines

  • The main text (introduction to references): words including all elements, abstract, references, etc. should not be more than 12 pages.
  • Any article more than 12 pages attracts N500 per page.
  • Charts and Figures should be created electronically, if not charts or figures should be submitted on clean sheets, data used to create figures should be submitted with each figure; Tables should be typed and placed at the end of the paper.
  • Formatting: Times New Roman, 12 font size, 1.5 line spacing, and Justified
  • Plagiarism or similarity index should be less than 10%
  • All submissions will undergo a double-blind peer review process by different experts in the field.

  • Contributors are encouraged to use gender-neutral international language wherever possible.
  • All abbreviations and acronyms should be spelt out in full the first time they are used in the article
  • Author(s) is (are) to mention any conflict of interest and acknowledgment of funding.
  • The author or lead author of an article is entitled to two copies (e-and-hard copies) of the journal the article appears.
  • Authors of accepted papers shall pay a processing fee of N5,000 (assessing fee) and N25,000 ($40) for publishing accepted paper. Information about where to pay to should be sought from the Editors
