Chairman of Council and Vice-Chancellor engage Academic staff @2021 Teachers' Assembly
The 2021 Teachers' assembly of Lead City University, hosted on Thursday 21, January 2020 ended with a renewed hope for a brighter future and a greater commitment towards the sustainable growth and development of the University in her quest to fulfilled the tripartite objectives of Teaching, Research and Community Service.
The Teachers' Assembly is an annual general meeting of the University governance and the academic community. Overtime, the Assembly has become an intelligent self-interest strategy and a veritable platform for information sharing mutual communication and understanding, relationship and confidence building.
Several matters were discussed with specific options and directions for execution. The issues ranged from Students-Lecturers Relationship to courseware submission. From the development of the University online platform and training of the respective lecturers to submission of outstanding Summer results. From the upward review of honorarium for Lecturer who teach PG programmes to University sponsorship opportunities for overseas conferences and reward for research efforts. The meeting was rounded off with the announcement of the following new programmes which commencement was delayed by the lockdown in 2020, but now awaiting the visitation of the National Universities Commission: MBBS, Medicine and Surgery, DDS, Doctor of Dental Surgery, Pharm D, B.Sc. Urban & Regional Planning, B.Sc. Tourism and Hospitality Studies and B.Sc. Biology.
The Vice-Chancellor also implores all the academic staff to embark on aggressive marketing of the University Programmes to shore up the student population in their respective departments.
The meeting was graced by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Professor Jide Owoeye, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabir Adeyemo, Registrar, Dr. Mrs Oyebola Ayeni, Bursar, Mrs. Kunbi Taiwo-Taiwo, Librarian, Mr. Lanre Osaniyi, Deans of Faculties, Directors and Senior Scholars and Departmental Heads.
Freshers' Orientation Programme Holds 1st Of February 2020/2021 Matriculation Holds 2nd February, 2021
A 1 Day Compulsory Orientation Programme for freshers – 100 Level and Direct Entry/Conversion students for 2020/2021 academic session has been scheduled for Monday 1st February, 2021 starting 11:00am - 2:00pm.
All freshers who have resumed and those who are scheduled to resume at 2nd semester are expected to be part of this all important programme. They are also expected to register before the commencement of the programme.
Registration desk will be opened between 10:00am – 11:00am according to Faculties. The Management will not condone absenteeism and any student within the above mentioned category who disregards this directive will be sanctioned by the University authority.
Planned orientation programme is a statutory University event, apart from the matriculation ceremony. It serves as a veritable platform for general information and through which freshers will be introduced to some principal officers of the University and get familiarized with the vision, mission, core value and culture of the University.
During the orientation, different speakers will amplify and interpret the current University expectations of studentship – from Jamb issues, central registration, fees and financial regulations, exams and records to general students' welfare and resources.
In another vein, the 2020/2021 Matriculation Ceremony will hold at the prestigious Adeline Hall on the 2nd of February, 2021 @11:00 am prompt. All Freshers/Matriculating students are to be corporately dressed for the occasion (see the university dress code on www.lcu.edu.ng). Matriculating students are to pick the matriculation gowns from their respective faculty offices on Monday 1st February, 2021.
Welcome to 2020/2021 Academic Session
We thank God for keeping us all up to this moment and we trust He will continue to protect us as we carry on our daily activities. We welcome all our students back on Campus, Lectures and other academic activities will begin immediately. Students and members of staff are to please take responsibility by observing strictly all Government laid down Covid 19 protocol , which will be enforced.
The University Management is working assiduously to ensure safety of Staff and students on Campus.
A massive decontamination and disinfection operation has been carried out (some pictures and videos posted on various groups.)
The University's hospital, as always, is poised to attend to any health concerns. All staff have been trained and adequate preparation has been made to cater for any emergencies.
Students are expected to return to school with a good supply of disposable or reusable masks, alcohol based hand sanitisers and safe disinfectant sprays for their personal use. A 'no mask, no entry' rule will be enforced in all of the university's buildings including lecture theatres . Please adhere strictly.
Kindly remember to settle all outstanding fees promptly to avoid late payment penalties.
