PROFILE QUESTIONS
Q1: Why did you choose to study at LCU?
I was in search of an institution of learning that is quite flexible and that supports studying while working full time as I was already working with my Higher National Diploma and had the goal of achieving a BSc.degree to enhance my skills, performance and growth while on the job.
Q2: What is your favourite memory of LCU; a class, a lecturer, an activity or an experience?
The very passionate lecturers at LCU, in particular, Dr Philip Achimugu, the then Head of Department of Computer & Information Science, are among my fondest memories at LCU. Dr Achimugumade learning easy. He truly had his students’ success at heart and was always willing to assist with all academic issues. My program at LCU would have been incomplete without him. I do appreciate this whole lot.
Q3: What have you done since graduating from LCU?
Since graduating from LCU, I have had a career shift: I moved from a Transaction Officer to a Compliance Officer. I have completed various online Computer Science related courses and I am currently looking forward to starting my MSc program as well as preparing for the Professional Certification with the Compliance Institute of Nigeria.
Q4: What is your current job role? And what does it involve?
I am currently AML/CTF Compliance Officer who specializes in monitoring transactions for Anti-Money Laundering and Combating Terrorist Financing. I also render regulatory reports and returns,analyse bulk data, Customer due diligence and other assigned tasks related to this.
Q5: How did your education at LCU help you get to where you are now?
My education at LCU greatly impacted my analytical skills and improved my knowledge of Microsoft Office and other applications needed to complete my day to day tasks.
Q6: What advice would you give to prospective students of LCU?
I will advise prospective students to put in their best, be optimistic, and acquire as many soft skills as possible as these will always come in handy. I will also advise them to be confident in the fact that Lead City University has a crop of excellent lecturers who genuinely want their students to succeed in their chosen field of study.
Q7: What advice would you give to LCU’s current students?
Take good advantage of the two opportunities you have to learn vocational skills during your programme at LCU. These skills will always give you an edge over others in all spheres of endeavour, and they can also be used to make some extra cash, which is always a good thing.
Q8: Mention one or two of your proudest professional or personal accomplishments since graduating from LCU.
My greatest professional accomplishments are the change in career field and scoring 4.7/5.0 in my first appraisal since joining this organization.
Q9: If you had it to do all over again, would you still choose LCU?
Yes I will still choose LCU, again and again!
Q10: If the opportunity presents itself, will you be happy to support the University or other LCU Alumni?
