February 2023 Alumnus

February 2023 Alumna

About the February 2023 Alumna.

The spotlight for February 2023 is on another beautiful and talented alumna, Jumoke Azeez, the Creative Director of Zeez Designs, whose love for fashion design and entrepreneurship was developed while she was studying for her Bachelor of Arts in English Education at Lead City University.

Jumoke received her start-up capital from Lead City Microfinance Bank at the very low alumni interest rate and started from one little room; today, she works out of her very large space with lots of machines and different operating units under her direction.

Jumoke now has her eyes set on having showrooms all over Nigeria and on owning a garment factory where she intends to manufacture for export. She happily shares her skills with others who are interested in this line of business at her fashion school. She was recently interviewed by BusinessDay magazine; her interview can be read here: https://businessday.ng/interview/enterpreneur/article/jumoke-azeez-entrepreneur-building-successful-fashion-business/

We are so proud of what Jumoke has achieved; especially as she took the seeds of interest that were planted in her heart at LCU and built a fashion empire out of them. We look forward to opportunities to collaborate with her in the future both at the Institution level and the Alumni Association level

PROFILE QUESTIONS

Q1: Why did you choose to study at LCU?

I chose to study at Lead City University because of her past achievements that I was aware of and also because of the quality I saw in many of their Alumni that I had dealings with.

Q2: What is your favorite memory of LCU; a class, a lecturer, an activity or an experience?

The entrepreneurial skills class with Lead City University’s Fashion and Lifestyle Academy and the Poise class with IPD-CRM and Dr. Owolabi.

Q3: What have you done since graduating from LCU?

I have been self-employed, running my fashion business. I wouldn't have been able to do this if I had not received training and support from Lead City University. The entrepreneurial skills training, which was made compulsory for us all then is now paying my bills today.

Q4: What is your current job role? And what does it involve?

I am a bespoke tailor and a fashion teacher. We style you to look glamorous for your special occasions.

Q5: How did your education at LCU help you get to where you are now?

The education I received at LCU made a great impact in my life and in my career choice. I am grateful to God that I passed through LCU.

Q6: What advice would you give to prospective students of LCU?

LCU is the best choice for learning. You will be wowed by the experiences you receive, both inside and outside the classroom. I can assure you that you won't regret choosing LCU. That is my personal testimony.

Q7: What advice would you give to LCU’s current students?

No knowledge is wasted. Everything you are being taught now will definitely be useful someday. Pay attention, do not right-off any teaching or any learning experiences you are presented with.

Q8: Mention one or two of your proudest professional or personal accomplishments since graduating from LCU.

Q10: If the opportunity presents itself, will you be happy to support the University or other LCU Alumni?

Yes, I will, without an iota of doubt.
